Aviagen Australia, New Zealand (ANZ) recently welcomed 75 customers from across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji to its bi-annual customer seminar, held May 6-7 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
This year’s theme, ‘A Focus on Broilers’, brought together a diverse group of poultry professionals for learning, idea-sharing and reconnecting with colleagues across the region.
Sharing practical insights
The agenda covered a range of timely and practical topics tailored to the ANZ broiler market.
The group explored best-practice advice on gut health, broiler feed additives, water sanitation, litter moisture control, and other management essentials that directly impact flock welfare, farm performance and sustainability.
Michael Leahy, Managing Director of Aviagen ANZ, opened the seminar by welcoming attendees and encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity to engage with the expert speakers.
“It was great to see both familiar and new faces in the room,” he said.
“This event reflects our commitment to supporting poultry producers by creating space to share the latest knowledge, ask questions, and take-home ideas they can use on their own farms.”
Customer voices from across the region
The seminar was well-received, with participants praising the relevance of the content and the opportunity to network with peers.
“The Aviagen seminar was much more than an industry event — it was a space for genuine human and professional connection,” said Edgar Raffin, Broiler Advisor at Tegel NZ.
“Each presentation addressed current challenges with clarity and real-world perspective. The atmosphere felt like one big poultry family committed to raising the bar together.”
Gracyn Dwight, Broiler Operations Manager at Turosi, added, “It was a well-organized event with great speakers covering biosecurity, nutrition, water, litter and disease management. There was a lot to take back to the wider team to refresh and update. And to top it off — a beautiful setting in Christchurch.”
Connecting people and knowledge
Debbie Fisher, Technical Services Manager, Aviagen ANZ, reflected on the importance of bringing the community together.
“I always enjoy seeing our customers step away from their busy workdays to learn something new and connect with others doing similar work,” she shared.
“It’s a great time to exchange ideas, talk through challenges and solutions — and of course, catch up with old friends.”
