One of Malaysia’s largest food producers, CAB Cakaran Corporation, has expanded its retail reach with the launch of its 15th medium-sized supermarket, Home Mart Fresh & Frozen, located in Sri Rambai, Bukit Mertajam.
This marks a significant step in strengthening CAB’s presence in the Malaysian retail sector. The company now operates eight fully owned Home Mart outlets and holds a 58.02% stake in seven Pasaraya Jaya Gading outlets.
In a statement, CAB said it plans to open another five to seven Home Mart stores in 2025, depending on site availability across Peninsular Malaysia’s outer regions.
Group Managing Director Christopher Chuah Hoon Phong said the expansion supports CAB’s long-term goal of building an extensive retail distribution channel for its food products.
“Each of our outlets can sell around 200 chickens a day. This model is a cost-effective way to strengthen our footprint in the food business,” Mr Chuah said. “We plan to open another 50 to 100 outlets over the next 5-10 years.”
Currently, CAB’s 15 outlets—across Home Mart and Jaya Gading—are located in the Malaysian states of Pahang, Kelantan, Perak, Penang, and Kedah.
Financially, the group reported a net profit of approximately USD 7.19 million on revenue of about USD 125.88 million for its first quarter ended December 31, 2024.
