Indonesia’s poultry integrator Widodo Makmur Unggas (WMU) reported that its net sales in the first half of 2025 (H1 2025) soared 137% to USD 18.50 million.

During the period, its gross loss dropped to USD 922,000, an improvement from USD 1.17 million in H1 2024.

The Jakarta-based company also reported a positive EBITDA of USD 522,000 during the period, a significant turnaround from the negative USD 461,000 recorded in the previous year.

WMU still posted an operating loss of USD 1.47 million in H1 2025. However, this represents a 30% improvement compared to the USD 2.15 million loss recorded in H1 2024.

Due to the financial improvement, the company is projecting a positive business outlook for its business and the poultry industry throughout this year.

“This financial improvement reflects the effectiveness of our efficiency strategies, the strengthening of core business lines, and our ability to leverage market momentum driven by government policies in the food and animal protein sectors,” said Director Wahyu Andi Susilo.

New working capital is crucial for growth

WMU’s management reaffirmed their commitment to driving continued performance growth through well directed strategic initiatives.

“Efficiency efforts will be implemented across all operational activities, along with enhanced utilization of existing production facilities,” the company stated.

The company is also proactively exploring new partnership opportunities to secure additional working capital. This move is expected to act as a catalyst for the execution of strategic plans and the achievement of management’s targets.

“New working capital is a crucial driver for us in executing our growth strategies and maximizing existing business potential,” said Mr Susilo.

He explained that WMU’s performance recovery strategy is aligned with positive trends in the national food sector, particularly in the poultry industry, which is being supported by the government’s implementation of the free nutritious meals program.

This program, he said, is expected to broadly increase the consumption of animal proteins, especially poultry products, thereby opening up greater market expansion opportunities for WMU.
