Indian poultry vaccine manufacturer Globion India Pvt Ltd has officially been renamed Virbac Biologicals Pvt Ltd, marking the final stage of its integration into the global animal health company Virbac.

The rebranding was recently announced by Virbac leadership, formally introducing the company’s new identity as Virbac Biologicals Pvt Ltd.

The rebranding follows a phased acquisition process that began in 2023 when France-based Virbac acquired a majority stake in Globion. The transaction formed part of Virbac’s strategy to strengthen its position in the poultry vaccine segment and expand its presence in the Indian animal health market.

Founded in 2005 as a joint venture between Suguna Group and Germany’s Lohmann Animal Health, Globion has developed expertise in the development, manufacture and commercialization of live and inactivated vaccines targeting a wide range of avian pathogens. The company is recognized as a specialist in poultry vaccines and biologicals, making it a strategic addition to Virbac’s global animal health portfolio.

Virbac completed the acquisition of a 74% majority stake in Globion on November 1, 2023. On June 21, 2024, the company finalized the acquisition of the remaining shares, making Globion a wholly owned subsidiary.

Based in Hyderabad, Globion’s manufacturing and R&D facilities employ around 120 people. The company generated approximately USD 13.87 million in revenue during 2023 and serves the poultry sector through a portfolio of live and inactivated vaccines.

“This transition reflects the integration of strong scientific expertise, manufacturing capabilities and a shared commitment to advancing animal health solutions,” said Natesan Thanthoni, Area Director (IMEA) at Virbac.

Virbac described the integration as an important step in strengthening its vaccine business and expanding its presence in one of the world’s largest poultry-producing countries. The newly branded Virbac Biologicals Pvt Ltd will continue to focus on vaccine innovation, product quality and customer support while leveraging Virbac’s global research and commercial network.

The rebranding reflects the completion of Globion’s integration into the Virbac Group and reinforces the company’s commitment to the poultry biologicals sector. The move is expected to enhance access to advanced vaccine technologies and disease prevention solutions for poultry producers across India and the broader Asian region.
