HatchTech, together with its Indonesian agent Unigro Artha Persada, participated at ILDEX Indonesia 2025, promoting its latest innovations for the poultry hatchery industry in Indonesia.

“Innovative technology is in HatchTech’s DNA. Every technology we develop is based on thorough scientific research,” said Colin Groen, International Sales Manager, in an interview with aviNews Asia.

For HatchTech, research lies at the core of every solution. The company has always been, and will continue to be, driven by knowledge. Since its founding nearly 30 years ago, scientific research has formed the foundation of all its products and innovations.

Laminar Airflow

One of HatchTech’s key technologies is Laminar Airflow — the foundational concept that gave rise to the company and still lies at the core of all its equipment.

Developed by HatchTech’s founder and current President, it was the breakthrough that set the company apart in a market where all other suppliers relied on the same conventional technology. This technology ensures stable and uniform climate conditions that support optimal embryo development and superiorly healthy chicks after hatching.

“While most other suppliers rely on a similar approach — turbulent airflow with large fans and a single temperature setpoint to control conditions inside the setter and hatcher — we take a radically different approach at the core,” Mr Groen explained.

“We recognized that turbulent airflow, and the resulting non-uniformity, was the weak element in this concept. That is why we developed Forced Laminar Airflow. Our system uses individually temperature-controlled aluminium radiators with specially designed perforations to create microclimates within the machine. The Forced Laminar Airflow moves uniformly from right to left at exactly the same speed at every position in the system, ensuring consistent temperature and tightly controlled incubation parameters throughout. Only truly uniform conditions can deliver uniform output.”

HatchCare

Another innovation from HatchTech is HatchCare, designed to provide chicks with the best possible start in life, offering proven benefits for chick quality and welfare. Mr Groen claims that HatchTech is the first and only company to provide early access to feed, light, and fresh water immediately after hatching.

“We have hatcheries equipped with HatchCare technology on every inhabited continent. This innovation has become the standard for efficient poultry production in Europe. We see this technology having reached its mature market stage, with the rest of the world embracing it widely. We expect the same to happen in Indonesia and across Asia, as the performance benefits are simply too significant to ignore. Not using HatchCare effectively means leaving potential profit on the table,” he said.

SetCare

The latest innovation from HatchTech is SetCare, the next-generation setter concept that raises the bar for chick quality and hatchery performance. This technology takes hatchery incubation to the next level with a unique and proven 24-day incubation process.

It is extremely precise embryo temperature control enables a consistent and gradual warming process. Combined with carefully regulated humidity and CO₂ levels, SetCare provides an unrivalled uniform and optimal incubation environment.

Benefits of SetCare: 3.3% more first-grade chicks, lower early embryo mortality, and improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) and overall chick performance.

“Through nearly a decade of research, we have reimagined the textbook of incubation with this disruptive technology — incubating eggs for 24 days instead of the usual 21,” said Mr Groen.

“With SetCare, we can provide our customers with 3.3% more first-grade, saleable chicks. A year after its official market introduction, this technology is already rapidly gaining traction and becoming the new standard for production. We expect this strong market acceptance to continue worldwide.”

Indonesia: A potential market

Considering the country’s demographics, economic growth, and market development, Mr Groen sees Indonesia as a potential market for HatchTech’s technologies.

“I look forward to supporting the poultry industry in Indonesia to advance and become more cost-efficient with a smaller footprint. It’s time to focus more on the quality of the investment, rather than the quantity,” he said.
