Indonesia will export 75 tons of poultry products this week to Singapore, Japan, and Timor Leste.
The Agriculture Ministry on March 3 staged a ceremony at the ministry’s complex in South Jakarta to celebrate this success stepping up the country’s push to become a regional poultry exporter after declaring self-sufficiency in chicken meat and eggs.
The export, valued at around USD 195,300, marked what the government described as a concrete step to turn domestic surplus into export earnings.
The export cargo, transported in six container trucks, included chicken meat, eggs, and further processed chicken meats including nuggets, and sausages.
Four companies participated in the shipment:
- Charoen Pokphand Indonesia: around 41 tons of table eggs (650,150 pieces), with a value of around USD 74,949, to Singapore.
- Japfa Comfeed Indonesia: 6 tons of processed poultry products (67,520 packs), with a value of around USD 59,000, to Singapore.
- Malindo Food Delight: 6 tons of processed poultry products, with a value of USD 16,100, to Japan.
- Taat Indah Bersinar: 14 tons of processed poultry products and 8 tons of chicken carcasses, with a value of around USD 50,675, to Timor Leste.
Mr Sulaiman called this effort as a strong coordination between the government and industry players in expanding overseas markets.
“We are now self-sufficient in eggs and chicken meat. So, we are pushing exports to more countries. We currently have 10 regular export destinations, including Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Papua New Guinea, and Myanmar. We must continue to push these exports,” he stated.
According to Agriculture Ministry data, total planned poultry exports are projected to reach 545 tons worth around USD 1.08 million by March 31, 2026.
The target forms part of broader efforts to accelerate livestock commodity exports, which the government views as highly competitive in the global market.
Mr Sulaiman said expanding poultry exports would directly contribute to foreign exchange earnings, job creation, and higher added value for domestic products.
The government sees poultry exports as a strategic move to maintain price stability at the farm level while improving business welfare. With rising production capacity and tighter quality standards, Indonesia is positioning itself to expand its footprint in both regional and global markets.
Mr Amran emphasized that the administration is not only committed to safeguarding national food security but also to transforming the food sector into a key driver of export-based economic growth.
