Prestage Farms Inc. announced on July 9th the plan to expand its operations by building a new processing turkey facility in Kershaw County in South Carolina. The plant will be located at the Governor’s Hill Industrial Park in Camden. It will be the second plant in the county.
The investment is around 150 million, and it is expected to open the new facility ending 2022. Additionally, 292 people could be employed.

One of the goals is to process poultry products based on state-of-the-art technology and high levels of automation. All this, through several technologies that will improve and increase the sanitation and the shelf life of products.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. The Council also awarded Kershaw County a $1.2 million Set-Aside Fund grant to assist with related project costs.
