The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) from Vietnam indicated that the country has earned 361 million USD resulting from exporting poultry products to around 26 countries worldwide.

Additionally, over 3 billion USD has been spent on Vietnam as the cost to import different livestock products despite the high demand for these in the country, the minister added.

So far, it has been reported that Vietnam produces about 6.5 million tonnes of livestock products and almost 17 billion poultry eggs per year, which are mainly used for domestic consumption.

  • The experts suggested that businesses need to intensify the deep processing of poultry meat, create reserves, and diversify products to stabilize the market and increase added value.
  • Moreover, banks need to provide credit support and consider suitable options to assist farmers, they said.

In the long term, ministries and sectors need to evaluate distribution channels to ensure the interests of consumers and breeders, consider establishing a meat price stabilization fund to support and better regulate the market; and take solutions to export meat products for large livestock projects.

Recently on October 25, 2022, the CPV Food Binh Phuoc working under CP Vietnam Co Ltd, exported the first batch of processed chicken to Japan after 2 years of operation.

The General Director of CP Vietnam said: “The first shipment of processed chicken to Japan marks the success of CPV’s Feed-Farm-Food value chain, starting the journey to bring Vietnamese processed chicken products to the Japanese market and head to other foreign markets”.

The first batch of chicken exported to Japan was 33.6 tonnes. CP is expected to export more than 80 tonnes of chicken products in the last two months of 2022 and about 4,500 tonnes in 2023.

CP Vietnam’s successful export of the first batch of chicken to this market has opened the door for Vietnamese chicken to enter other demanding markets.
