Feed represents the largest cost in livestock production—up to 80%—making it critical to understand the feed milling process. How feed is made impacts its form, nutrient quality, and animal performance. This symposium explored the science and real-world practices of feed manufacturing, highlighting both historical strengths and emerging technologies that support healthy poultry growth and productivity.

This symposium, prepared by the PSA Committee on Animal Health, was focus on providing current perspectives on the epidemiology and pathogenesis of Avian Influenza in poultry. Vaccination and management approaches to mitigate Avian Influenza in commercial poultry flocks were also explored.

Advances in genetics, genomics, epigenomics, and bioinformatics are reshaping poultry breeding, health, and production.

1:15 PM | The inflammation saga: Breakthrough nutritional insights for poultry

Current market conditions are making poultry producers rethink strategies for bird health. With the rise of viral challenges, nutrition can play a key role in managing inflammation. The inflammatory response in poultry can be driven by many different factors. There are many ways to manage inflammation, but the focus of this symposium was to discuss the impact of anti-nutritional factors on the gut inflammation.
