CAB Cakaran Bhd’s poultry and food processing arm, Farm’s Best Food Industries Sdn Bhd, has continued operating with minimal disruption following a recent cyberattack on its accounting system.
According to the company, the incident affected internal digital infrastructure at Farm’s Best, a key subsidiary within CAB’s vertically integrated poultry business. Although system restoration is still ongoing, an external cybersecurity assessment has confirmed there is no material impact on the group’s overall operations or financial performance.
Farm’s Best is actively collaborating with both internal IT teams and external consultants to recover lost data and bolster cybersecurity measures to prevent future breaches.
Despite the attack, CAB’s poultry division remains the backbone of its operations, supported by lower feed costs and improved average selling prices of broilers and day-old chicks. The company’s integrated model—which includes farming, processing, and distribution—continues to drive profitability even as contributions from retail and fast-food segments have softened slightly.
Farm’s Best is well-known for its processed chicken products and plays a central role in ensuring stable output across CAB’s supply chain, reinforcing the group’s resilience amid both cyber threats and operational pressures.
The incident highlights the growing importance of robust digital security frameworks in the food processing industry, where even minor system disruptions can ripple through the entire supply chain. For integrators like CAB Cakaran, maintaining operational continuity is critical to ensuring steady food production and distribution.
