Prasit Boondoungprasert, CEO of Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF), is set to participate in the Axiom Mission 4 at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, on June 9, 2025, at 7:45 PM Thailand time.

The mission will see Thai chicken sent into space as a meal for astronauts—a proud milestone for Thailand.

The ‘Thai Chicken Goes to Space’ initiative is a collaborative effort between CPF, US-based SpaceTech startups—including Space Agents, Voyager, and Axiom Space—as well as Thailand’s mu Space Corp. The project aims to elevate Thai chicken’s food safety standards to meet the stringent requirements of space missions.

CPF will provide one of Thailand’s most iconic dishes, Holy Basil Chicken Breast’ (Gai Pad Krapow) which can be preserved for up to 12 months, making it ideal for space travel.

Axiom Mission 4 involves extensive cooperation in medical and scientific research, and the inclusion of Thai chicken underscores Thailand’s role in supporting international space initiatives. CPF’s contribution reinforces Thailand’s global culinary presence by showcasing its ability to meet NASA’s strict food safety standards.

Becoming part of an astronaut’s diet is no small feat. With no hospitals in space, food safety is paramount. The approval of Thai chicken for consumption aboard a space mission is a testament to Thailand’s world-class food production capabilities and a source of national pride.
