  • Hold the thermometer approximately 3-5 cm away from the eggshell surface (for infrared thermometer and by Braun thermometer touch the eggshell).
  • Aim at the equator (side surface) of the egg, not the pointed or blunt end.
  • Wait for the thermometer to stabilize (typically 1-2 sec) and record the reading.
  • Document the reading immediately in the eggshell temperature record sheet with the following details:
    • Date of time
    • Machine number
    • Flock number and age
    • Position
    • Average eggshell temperature
    • Air temperature (set point & display actual)
    • Relative humidity
    • Incubation days
