Kevin Monteiro, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Japfa Pte Ltd, has been appointed Co-chair of A4S (Accounting for Sustainability) CFO Leadership Network – Asia Pacific Chapter.
Based in Singapore, Japfa is an agri-food company focused on feeding emerging Asia with affordable, nutritious protein foods.
As CFO, Mr Monteiro oversees all financial operations of the company. He maintains a balanced capital structure, sources funding, and ensures the integrity of the company’s financial data.
The A4S CFO Leadership Network connects finance leaders to promote resilient business models and a sustainable economy.
As Co-chair, Mr Monteiro will help lead CFOs across the region in integrating sustainability into core business and financial strategy.
Finance leadership for a sustainable Asia
“Kevin’s appointment reflects both his personal leadership in sustainable finance and Japfa’s broader commitment to building a resilient, responsible food system across Asia,” the organization stated.
“I truly believe that the finance function is very influential … to make sure that the organization is following sustainability in their hearts,” remarked Mr Monteiro. “While there might be challenges during these uncertain times, I believe Asia will step up … and make a difference on this planet.”
Guiding Japfa’s sustainability vision
At Japfa, Mr Monteiro also serves on the company’s sustainability committee. This group advises and assists the Board in strategic decision-making process on sustainability and long-term planning. It also facilitates sustainability initiatives.
“Looking at our sustainability journey, we are proud of what we have achieved so far. As we move forward, we aim to be at the forefront of our industry by implementing initiatives that help us achieve our goal of feeding people in emerging Asia while positively contributing to the community and respecting the environment. Along this path, our vision of ‘Growing towards mutual prosperity’ continues to guide us in how we do business,” he explained.
Sustainability is deeply rooted Japfa’s daily operations. Its efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal No 2: End Hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
