Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam is intensifying efforts to attract investments in centralized livestock and poultry slaughtering facilities. The move aims to strengthen disease control, improve food safety, and ensure environmental hygiene, while gradually phasing out small-scale, unregulated slaughterhouses.
Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Tran Phong, has directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to lead this initiative. The department will coordinate with relevant agencies to tighten state management of slaughtering activities across the province.
Strengthening oversight and phasing out small-scale operations
The Department of Agriculture and Environment has been tasked with inspecting and supervising slaughtering facilities to ensure compliance with disease prevention, food safety, and sanitation standards. Facilities that fail to meet requirements will be rectified or penalized according to the law.
At the same time, the department will advise the provincial People’s Committee on a roadmap to gradually reduce and eventually terminate small, scattered slaughterhouses. This transition will take place once centralized facilities are fully invested in, constructed, and operational.
The department is also responsible for drafting a Resolution for the Provincial People’s Council. The resolution will outline special policies designed to encourage investment in centralized slaughtering facilities throughout Khanh Hoa.
Promoting investments and supporting enterprises
To accelerate progress, Mr Phong the Chairman has assigned the Department of Finance to review and advise on proposals submitted by the Department of Agriculture and Environment. These proposals include the appraisal of an investment policy dossier for a centralized slaughtering project proposed by Nhan Thuan Phat Livestock Construction and Trading Co Ltd. Results must be reported to the provincial People’s Committee before February 15, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center will work with the Department of Finance, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and other agencies to intensify investment promotion. Priority will be given to projects that align with approved planning and the project list issued under Decision No. 151/QD-UBND dated January 14, 2026.
Preparing localities for centralized facilities
The People’s Committees of Van Ninh, Tay Ninh Hoa, Khanh Vinh, Cam Hiep, Nam Cam Ranh, and Dong Khanh Son—where centralized slaughtering zones are already planned—must urgently review and resolve issues related to site preparation.
These localities are tasked with ensuring adequate conditions in planning, land availability, and technical infrastructure. Their proactive efforts will help attract investment, support construction, and guarantee smooth operation of centralized slaughtering facilities across the province.
