Malaysia is bringing ten separate conferences in animal production and veterinary sciences under one umbrella this July, forming the Global Animal Production and Veterinary Industry Summit (Gavis) 2026 in Putrajaya, a report by CodeBlue said.
Malaysia’s veterinary and livestock associations have long hosted separate annual events. This year, ten of them will combine into a single summit from July 21–23 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
Department of Veterinary Services director‑general Dr Mohd Noor Hisham Mohd Haron, who chairs the summit, said the consolidation will save participants both time and money while strengthening the industry’s collective voice.
The summit theme, ‘One Voice, One Health, One Future’, reflects its wide scope. Technical sessions will cover ruminant and non‑ruminant production, companion animal practice, diagnostics, economics, welfare, aquaculture, and food safety.
Two major symposiums are planned: the Malaysian Animal Welfare Regulatory Symposium and the Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (Mavma) Veterinary Education Symposium. Annual general meetings of Mavma, Malaysian Society of Animal Production (MSAP), Malaysian Association of Veterinary Pathology (MAVP), Malaysian Association of Companion Animal Medicine Industry (Macami), and Asian-Australasian Dairy Goat Network (AADGN), among others, will also take place during the summit.
Gavis 2026 will feature 108 presenters, including 51 international experts from Asia, Europe, and other regions. An exhibition with more than 100 booths will showcase veterinary equipment, pharmaceuticals, livestock technologies, and automation systems.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to deliver a keynote address at the Veterinary Gala Dinner on July 21. Public activities include a cat show, pet adoption program, industry talks, and a screening of World Without Cows. Admission to exhibitions and pet shows will be free, while professional sessions require registration.
Dr Mohd Noor Hisham emphasized that merging conferences under Gavis 2026 is about more than efficiency. It is designed to unite veterinarians, producers, researchers, academics, and regulators on a single platform. The summit seeks to encourage knowledge sharing, promote sustainable practices, and drive growth across animal production and veterinary care.
