Meet the speaker of incubaFORUM ASIA 2026: Gordon Butland, Director of G&S Agriconsultants.
Mr Butland has influenced global poultry production for over three decades by advocating for the integration of advanced technologies and developing strategic frameworks to navigate economic volatility. As Director of G&S Agriconsultants, his work has provided a roadmap for industry stakeholders to address challenges ranging from labor shortages to global pandemics.
Mr Butland has consistently warned companies against overexpansion during periods of low grain prices, advising that robust capital reserves are necessary to survive inevitable price rebounds. He has also encouraged the use of hedging strategies to manage the volatility of feed grain prices.
To mitigate overproduction risks, he advised companies to diversify their product mixes, such as reducing reliance on leg quarters in favor of higher-margin cuts like breast meat. Strategically, he has guided producers to pivot their focus based on regional dynamics; for instance, urging Thai producers to target growing regional markets like Vietnam and the Philippines rather than relying solely on declining export markets in Europe.
At incubaFORUM ASIA 2026, Mr Butland will deliver a presentation titled “Global poultry industry: The next 25 years, challenges and solutions” on Wednesday, April 29.
Let’s join incubaFORUM ASIA 2026 on April 28-30 in Indonesia and meet Mr Butland in person.
