Egg prices have rebounded sharply in October, according to poultry farms in Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in southern Vietnam including Tay Ninh and Dong Nai.
Farm-gate prices have risen by USD 0.02-0.03 per egg, now reaching USD 0.10-0.12. This is double the mid-2025 low of USD 0.05- 0.06.
Retail prices have also climbed. Eggs now sell for USD 0.12-0.14 each, with some varieties reaching USD 0.15. Grade-1 eggs at traditional markets in Ho Chi Minh City are priced near USD 0.16.
Traders report that roughly 1 million eggs are collected daily from Tay Ninh, An Giang, and Dong Thap provinces for export to Cambodia.
Chicken prices in the Southeastern region have increased steadily over the past month, boosting profits for both smallholders and large-scale farms.
These price levels have encouraged farmers to expand flocks and restock. Day-old chick prices have also surged to USD 0.64-0.72, up USD 0.16 from September.
Many producers are increasing output to meet expected demand during the 2026 Lunar New Year season.
Vietnam exported nearly 15 million breeding chickens and 4 million live chickens to Cambodia in Q3 2025, according to the Vietnam Poultry Association.
This growth signals strong regional demand and highlights the export potential of Vietnam’s poultry sector.
Several domestic companies have already secured contracts to supply eggs and chicken meat to Cambodia through Q1 2026.
Nguyen Thanh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Poultry Association, attributed the price surge to strong demand and limited supply.
Recent outbreaks of African swine fever have reduced pork consumption, prompting many consumers to shift toward eggs and poultry meat.
The association expects domestic production to meet demand in Q4 2025, including the Lunar New Year period.
Egg and chicken exports are also projected to grow, marking a new milestone for Vietnam’s poultry industry.
