Srinivasa Farms to boost poultry development in Nigeria
Nigeria’s Jigawa State Government expects a partnership with India's Srinivasa Farms to help revitalize the state's poultry industry.
Nigeria’s Jigawa State Government , led by Governor Umar Namadi, has entered a strategic partnership with India’s poultry integrator Srinivasa Farms in a move to develop the state’s poultry sector.
The collaboration is one of the major outcomes from the ongoing agricultural investment tour in India. The visit to Srinivasa’s headquarters in Hyderabad aims to explore partnership opportunities.
Srinivasa Farms, a trailblazer in India’s poultry sector since 1965, is widely recognized for its leadership in poultry breeding, feed production, animal health solutions, and food processing.
The delegation’s visit is part of a broader international agricultural trade mission designed to attract expertise, foster partnerships, and drive innovations that align with Jigawa State’s 12-Point Agenda for economic growth and food security.
Key areas of collaboration
The Jigawa State technical delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with Srinivasa’s management, resulting in a mutual understanding on key collaboration areas:
- Joint efforts to improve animal health and disease control protocols.
- Introduction of advanced hatchery technologies to improve productivity.
- Adoption of cutting-edge farm safety and disease prevention systems.
- Training program for local farmers and veterinary extension officers.
- Initiatives to advance poultry science and innovation tailored towards local needs.
- Support for strengthening grassroots poultry farming through co-operative models and value-chain integration.
- Enhancement of feed quality and affordability for local producers.
The delegation also invited Srinivasa’s Managing Director Suresh Chitturi and technical experts to visit Jigawa.
An official Memorandum of Agreement is expected to be signed soon, paving the way for knowledge transfer, private investment, and long-term sustainable development in Jigawa’s poultry industry.
“This partnership represents another giant leap in our commitment to agricultural transformation. With the right technology, training, and strategic alliances like this, Jigawa will emerge as a hub for poultry excellence in Nigeria,” said Mr Namadi.
