Thailand’s native chicken exports to Indonesia continue to rise, with its third and latest shipment valued at USD 123,200.

The Department of Livestock Development (DLD) has reported sustained success in promoting live native chicken exports, driven by growing demand and market confidence.

Export milestones and market momentum

DLD Director General Somchuan Ratanamangkalanon announced progress in opening high-value livestock export markets.

The department recently completed its third health inspection and certification for 41 native chickens (Ayam Bangkok) from Nongjok FCI Co Ltd destined for Indonesia. This shipment is worth approximately USD 123,000, marking a leap from the first two shipments this year.

On July 17, the first shipment of three chickens was valued at USD 13,860. This was followed the August 26 shipment of 30 chickens worth over US 92,4000.

The sharp increase in both volume and value reflects the rising popularity of Thai native breeds in Indonesia, especially for sporting and cultural purposes.

Strategic collaboration and long-term impact

This success stems from over a decade of collaboration between the DLD and the private sector, aimed at elevating high-value agricultural and livestock exports.

Together, they have negotiated access to international markets, certified farm standards, and enforced stringent disease control measures.

These efforts have delivered tangible benefits, including new income opportunities for native chicken breeders, and laid the foundation for long-term livestock trade and economic cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia.
