Avinews International interviewed Marco Lopes from CEVA at VIV Asia 2025

CEVA is working to offer their customers the complete solutions to protection and of course, to guarantee the best production in the poultry business. The strategy is going to pass through the whole development of the solutions that they can have, and these solutions are going to be from products, equipment and services as well that can add to their customers to achieve the best production. The control of the diseases depends on the best immunization, so they apply a lot of efforts on development of solutions, but always connected with the challenge that the producers are suffering or they are facing in the fields, so, one of the aspects where they are working is a lot of diagnosis and monitoring to be able to understand the challenge of their customers, how they can overpass and overtake the difficulties they can have in the fields and, of course, produce better to have a better production index, better profitability and better results in the end of the day.

CEVA solutions for poultry producers

Complete solution is talking about everything that is involved on the immunization of the chicks. Once we understand the challenge, once we understand what the problems are, how we can control it in the poultry industry, one of the important points to have a good immunization, to have a good control, is to start this immunization in the hatchery.

So, the first part of the solution is going to have all the automation, all the quality of application of the vaccine in the hatchery. If a vaccine Is not applied, we cannot expect it to work, so part of the control is going to be a good application in the hatchery after that, that we already know the challenge, we are able to do a good application.

We need to have a good vaccines and by understanding the challenge, we can select what are the good combination of vaccines that are going to be use in the hatchery to reach a proper control of the disease. And when we have all this, we need to understand if it´s working or not. The last part to close the solution is going to be monitoring, the data management, so if we understand the results, we know how we are applying what they are applying, what they are isolating if you are able to control the challenges or not.

How can we apply this for Infectious Bronchitis?

The first point that we need to know is that we have different strains circulating around the world. In the same country, most of the cases we have 2 to 3 different strains circulating, if not more. So, if we want to really protect the birds, we need to have products first that can have broad spectrum protection covering all this challenges.

We are very focused and we work very hard to have a good team that can apply the full dose of vaccine in all the birds, in the box, in the crates.
