Bird flu outbreaks in two south-east locations of Russia

Highly-pathogenic-bird-flu-in-South-CarolinaThe relevant Veterinary Services of Russia reported on October 13th  two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5) in two south-east locations of Russia. The outbreaks affect 1759 domestic birds and are ongoing.

 

It is the first occurrence of the disease in the zone and the origin of infection is still unknown or inconclusive.

The measures applied are the following: Stamping out, zoning, surveillance within containment and or the protection zone, quarantine, screening, official disposal of carcasses, by-products and waste, movement control inside the country, disinfection and control of wildlife reservoirs.
