Aviagen has appointed Clara Goldman as Global Director of Export, Logistics & Trade Compliance. She succeeds Diane Harjtes, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to the company.
In this role, Ms Goldman will oversee export operations for Aviagen’s poultry breeding programs, along with logistics coordination and trade compliance activities.
She will work closely with internal teams, regulatory authorities, and customers to help ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of live poultry – upholding high standards of animal health, welfare, and biosecurity throughout the process.
“Global trade in live poultry depends on precision, transparency, and strong regulatory collaboration,” said Jan Henriksen, Aviagen CEO.
“Clara’s experience across welfare, quality, and compliance gives her a comprehensive perspective that will help safeguard animal health, maintain customer confidence, and support a reliable international supply.”
A career built across animal welfare, quality and trade
Ms Goldman brings more than a decade of experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional leadership within Aviagen.
Her background includes close collaboration with the USDA Live Animal Import/Export division and the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP), supporting compartmentalization programs and protecting export eligibility in complex trade environments.
Most recently, she served as Global Welfare and Compliance Auditor for Aviagen Group, strengthening adherence to global animal welfare standards and enhancing audit systems across US operations.
Previously, as Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory for Aviagen Inc, she led a multi-state team overseeing compliance activities across four complexes, coordinating USDA programs, and providing executive leadership with regulatory and risk updates.
Earlier in her career, Ms Goldman held progressive roles in quality assurance and regulatory management, gaining hands-on operational experience from farm through hatchery.
During a US avian influenza outbreak, she also supported customer communication in Indonesia, helping maintain continuity under challenging trade conditions.
Ms Goldman holds a Bachelor of Science in Poultry Science Production from Auburn University and is a PAACO Certified Auditor and ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor.
“As global poultry markets continue to evolve, we remain committed to responsible trade practices, strong biosecurity standards, and supporting customers with dependable access to breeding stock,” Mr Henriksen concluded.
