Vietnam’s chicken meat imports rises in H1 2025

In the first six months of 2025, Vietnam imported more than 182,600 tons of chicken, worth over USD 189.2 million.

Vietnam imported over 182,600 tons of chicken meat in the first half of 2025, data from the Vietnam General Department of Customs show. Total value reached USD 189.2 million.

Compared to the same period last year, import volume and value increased by 13.7% and 19.5%, respectively.

US remains the leading supplier

In June 2025, the US exported more than 13,500 tons to Vietnam, worth over USD 15.5 million. This marked a 41.3% from May, and accounted for 48.1% of Vietnam’s total chicken meat imports that month.

Over the first six months, US shipments topped 56,600 tons, valued at USD 65.8 million. Compared to last year, volume rose 37.6% in volume, while value surged by 59.6%.

France post strong growth in June

France shipped 935 tons of chicken meat to Vietnam in June, valued at USD 1.5 million. This represents a staggering 369% and 259% month-on-month surge in volume and value, respectively, and accounted for 4.7% of Vietnam’s imports.

Over the first six months, France shipped over 2200 tons (USD 4.1 million), more than quadrupling in volume and value compared to the same period in 2024.

Outlook: Imports likely to stay robust

With steady growth across multiple fronts and increasingly diversified supply sources, Vietnam’s chicken meat imports are expected to remain strong through H2 2025.
