Vietnam’s chicken meat imports rises in H1 2025

In June 2025, the US exported more than 13,500 tons to Vietnam, worth over USD 15.5 million. This marked a 41.3% from May, and accounted for 48.1% of Vietnam’s total chicken meat imports that month.

Over the first six months, US shipments topped 56,600 tons, valued at USD 65.8 million. Compared to last year, volume rose 37.6% in volume, while value surged by 59.6%.

Other key suppliers:

• Imports from Poland surpassed 3500 tons (USD 4.22 million), down slightly from May. Its six-month total reached 18,100 tons (USD 23 million).
• Shipments from South Korea exceeded 3000 tons (USD 3.9 million), down 28.7% from May. Its six-month total hit 28,800 tons (USD 38.3 million).

France post strong growth in June

France shipped 935 tons of chicken meat to Vietnam in June, valued at USD 1.5 million. This represents a staggering 369% and 259% month-on-month surge in volume and value, respectively, and accounted for 4.7% of Vietnam’s imports.

Over the first six months, France shipped over 2200 tons (USD 4.1 million), more than quadrupling in volume and value compared to the same period in 2024.

Outlook: Imports likely to stay robust

With steady growth across multiple fronts and increasingly diversified supply sources, Vietnam’s chicken meat imports are expected to remain strong through H2 2025.

• Growing feed demand: Total animal feed demand in 2025 is forecast to reach 28.7 million tons, rising to 29.5 million tons in 2026, driven by the expanding poultry sector.
• Expanding poultry flock: By June 2025, Vietnam’s poultry flock had grown 4% year-on-year, with no major disease outbreaks reported, signaling resilience in domestic production.
• Projected market growth: Industry projections indicate that over the period 2025-2033, Vietnam’s poultry market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.18%, driven by rising domestic demand, modernization, and government support.
