According to the 2026 inspection plan recently announced by the Government Inspectorate, CP Vietnam Livestock Corporation will be subject to a thematic inspection focusing on compliance with laws on food safety, environmental protection, and the management and use of water resources.
The inspection is scheduled to be carried out in the third quarter of 2026. Alongside CP Vietnam, two other major livestock enterprises – CJ Vina Agri and Japfa Comfeed Vietnam – will also fall under this inspection round.
According to the Government Inspectorate, the inspection will be led by the Department of Inspection and Resolution of Complaints and Denunciations in the Agriculture and Environment Sector (Department VIII).
The inspection will focus on compliance with legal regulations on food safety and environmental protection, as well as the management, exploitation, and use of water resources in production, livestock farming, and food processing activities.
The inspection period will cover the timeframe from 2024 up to the time of inspection, with the on-site inspection expected to last 60 actual working days.
The inspection will be officially announced and implemented in the third quarter of 2026, in line with the approved plan.
The inclusion of CP Vietnam in the inspection plan comes amid earlier information that attracted public attention on social media regarding the company’s meat retail business at certain outlets.
Specifically, on May 30, 2025, social media circulated posts from the account ‘Jonny Lieu’, later confirmed to belong to Lieu Quy Ngan, a former sales employee of CP Vietnam who had been responsible for the pork segment in a processing area.
In these posts, Mr Ngan claimed that during his time working at the CP Fresh Shop My Xuyen (in the former Soc Trang province), he discovered several irregularities related to meat trading activities.
According to the allegations, some pork and chicken products were said to show signs of disease and emit unusual odors, yet were still processed and distributed through the retail system for sale.
In response, CP Vietnam issued official statements to customers and partners, asserting that the allegations were unfounded.
Shortly thereafter, an inter-agency inspection team from Soc Trang province conducted inspections at the CP Fresh Shop My Xuyen and several related facilities.
Initial inspection results announced on June 2, 2025, showed that among four CP Vietnam stores inspected in Soc Trang, three were using expired certificates of eligibility for food safety. The case continued to be reviewed and handled by relevant authorities in accordance with regulations.
On June 4, 2025, Mr Ngan worked with the police regarding the receipt and verification of his denunciation.
On the morning of June 6, 2025, he continued to post images of pigs described as ‘abnormal’ at a slaughterhouse in Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province, accompanied by information indicating the photos were taken in March 2022.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to inspect, verify, and handle the case in accordance with their authority.
By July 2025, the Investigation Police Agency of the former Soc Trang Provincial Police issued a decision not to initiate criminal proceedings, citing the absence of signs of the offense of ‘violating regulations on food safety’.
Accordingly, the allegations related to violations of food safety regulations involving CP Vietnam were verified by competent authorities and concluded to have no legal basis.
