Malayan Flour Mills Bhd (MFM) recorded a sharp turnaround in Q3 2025. Net profit rose fourfold to USD 8.66 million, compared to USD 1.77 million in Q3 2024.
The rebound was supported by improved results across the Group’s Flour and Grain Trading (FGT) businesses in Malaysia and Vietnam, alongside its Poultry Integration (PI) segment.
In Q3 2025, the FGT segment, together with the aquafeed business, delivered a profit after tax of USD 9.49 million. This represented a 68.2% from USD 5.64 million a year earlier.
Despite a slightly lower revenue, which stood at USD 187 million compared to USD 193.4 million previously, profitability improved. Higher sales volumes and stronger contribution margins, supported by lower global wheat prices, were key drivers of profitability.
Back in the black
MFM’s 30%-owned Indonesian joint venture, PT Bungasari, also returned to profitability after a challenging year. The company posted a profit after tax of USD 823,000, compared to a loss of USD 8.31 million in tQ2 2024.
This turnaround contributed a share of profit of USD 242,000 to MFM, reversing the USD 2.49 million share of loss recorded a year earlier.
The PI segment, operated through a joint venture with Tyson Foods, also swing back to profit. It reported a profit after tax of USD 944,000, compared to a loss of USD 1.26 million a year earlier. MFM’s 51% share of the results amounted to USD 484,000, versus a share of loss of USD 653,000 in Q3 2024.
Executive Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Teh Wee Chye said the results highlight the effectiveness of MFM’s integrated model, combining flour milling with poultry processing. He noted that flour milling will continue to underpin earnings, while poultry integration is gradually normalizing alongside stabilizing market demand.
Holding steady
For the nine months ended September 30, 2025, MFM posted a 51.3% increase in net profit to USD 23.48 million, compared to USD 15.52 million a year earlier.
Group revenue held steady at USD 580.8 million, versus USD 557 million in the same period last year.
MFM will not declare a dividend for the quarter. However, the group previously paid an interim dividend of USD 4.5 million on September 25, 2025 for the financial year ending 31 December 31, 2025.
