The Prestage Department of Poultry Science from North Carolina State University is inviting to join in the North Carolina Broiler Supervisor's short course 2021 on April 21st from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon (EDT). This is an annual event directed by Dr. Edgar O. Oviedo.
Due to the covid restrictions, the course is offered online and has a FREE registration. If you want to register, click here.
The aim is to update technical information for live production and grow-out managers, broiler flock supervisors, and other personnel involved in broiler chicken production.
The program covers the following topics:

- Improving Broiler Gut Health from the European Perspective
The workshop has the participation of the recognized speakers:
- Dr. Jesse Campbell- B.S Poultry Science, Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Technology from Auburn University.Assistant Extension Professor. National Poultry Technology Center (NPTC) Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and the Biosystems Engineering Department.
- Dr. Maarten De Gussem- DVM. Founder and Poultry Consultant at Vetworks (Belgium), academic adviser at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University, and a member of scientific committees of Poultry Mycoplasma Conference and of IHSIG Conference on Poultry Intestinal Health. Also, he is the author of Broiler Signals, a practical management guide available in 12 idioms.
- Dr. Michael Martin- DVM, MPVM, ACPV. Director of Poultry Programs, Veterinary Division N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) for over three years.
- Dr. Guillermo Zavala- DVM, National Autonomous University of Mexico MAM, M.Sc., and Ph.D. from University of Georgia. Postdoctoral work at UGA and the University of Melbourne. Owner and founder at Avian Health International, LLC, a poultry consulting doing veterinary work in over 50 countries. He remains as an adjunct professor at UGA, where he collaborates in teaching avian virology, poultry diseases, and poultry husbandry.
